Review of Daredevil (2003) by Charles C — 01 May 2014
Batman was Daredevil.
After my English teacher said that his favorite Marvel movie was Daredevil, I see a lot of bad people giving a bad review about the theatrical version and many people give a good review (and a bad one too) about the director's cut. So in the end I decided to watch the director's cut.
Anyone actually hate Ben Affleck as Daredevil? In my opinion, Ben done a good job playing a blind lawyer but it could've been a lot better the same will be said to Jennifer Garner's Elektra. The best performance in this movie are no doubt, Colin Farrell's Bullseye. He portrays a really great Bullseye and has become one of my favorite villain in Marvel movie's.
The action was really good, its a stylish fast paced action but sometimes the choreography of the fight are messy for example, the first fight in the bar. My own personal favorite was Elektra's fight with Daredevil and the battle with Bullseye. Most of the action are really good but then there's the final fight with Kingpin, not to mention that Daredevil's movie Kingpin is terrible. Rather than a thrilling final fight, we get an awkward battle where Daredevil have to break some kind of water dispenser in order to see Kingpin's movement and after that he break his leg and decided to not kill him. If there wasn't any that water dispenser that Daredevil break in the end he would've lost the fight.
There are one things that bothers me in this movie. The kissing scene of Elektra and Matt in the rain, why is it weird? Because on 2002 Spiderman, MJ kisses Spiderman which his identity is unknown to her and the same goes to Elektra kissing Matt but Elektra doesn't know that Matt is DareDevil, very original. Don't forget his fight with Elektra when Matt wanted to know his name, he shows an acrobatic move to many kids on the playground, good way to hide hero identy!
The plot is unknown, all he does is just fighting thugs at night and that's it. The only plot in the movie is the subplot which is about a murderer then Matt and his partner Foggy has to solve it.
Who directed this...oh the guy who will direct Ghost Rider! So after this movie and Elektra, Marvel actually tell this guy to direct the Ghost Rider movie? Genius! This is not the worst comic book adaptation but its definitely not the best either and this movie is very overhated but i'm not saying its good, its pretty average for a superhero movie. There will be a Daredevil reebot in the future, and I really hope they make a lot better movie than this.
