Review of Dare (2009) by Sarah . — 18 Feb 2010
...I'm slightly confused at the moment. The ending is a little unclear, yet I think I understand it. If I understand it correctly then I rather enjoy the end. However, I am a little puzzled nonetheless.
Zach Gilford was truly the great surprise for me in this movie. I was somewhat dissapointed with Emmy Rossum for the first half, as well as Ashley Springer. Emmy improved as the film went on, as did Ashley. However, Zach still stands out to me the most. His preformance was just more believable and real. I felt for his character ten times more than I did for the others.
I also have to say that prior to watching this I watched the short film its based on, and I was very pleased to see that they did it wonderful justice. They actually used the same lines and everything, but they made it better, and took out the bad part.
So overall I was initially not impressed, but my opinion changed completely once Zach's character was fully developed and portrayed (i.e. the third part of the movie). I would gladly watch this again and will probably end up buying it one day.
What did this movie teach me? No one is who they appear to be on the surface. We all have deeper secrets worth exploring.
