Review of Dante's Peak (1997) by Pete 1 — 13 Oct 2010
In 1997, two disaster films about volcanic eruptions made their debut, Volcano and Dante's Peak. So which film is better? Well, let's look at Dante's Peak. Both are enjoyable entertaining films. Dante's Peak stars Pierce Brosnan as Harry Dalton a vulcanologist who discovers that Dante's Peak is bound to erupt and decides to warn the town. Linda Hamilton is the Mayor of Dante's Peak and Harry's love interest in the film.
You get what you pay for when you watch this movie. Yes, it is a bit predictable. Yes, it does have a couple cheesy moments. However, you will still have a good time with the special effects. Plus, I really like the music in this film. It really set the tone and makes a lot of moments intelligently suspenseful. It's also pretty well-paced and the story isn't that dragged out making the movie very well worth the while.
