Review of Dangerous Parking (2007) by Dave W — 29 Aug 2008
Although Dangerous Parking seems to start out like another British gangster/lads film, it actually turns out to be a moving drama.
I had no prior knowledge of the book on which this film was based and just assumed it was going to be another London-set cockney swear-fest. But it is in fact quite an efficient and powerful piece of cinema.
The main role is played by the incredibly talented Peter Howitt, who also wrote and directed the film. Although he may not be a household name, you will have almost certainly heard of his work before. His most high-profile movie is probably Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow, but this is a much heavier work.
With a good supporting cast with the likes of Sean Pertwee and Saffron Burrows, Dangerous Parking is a serious movie about a human condition laced with delicate sprinkles of humour in just the right places. This is a film that is worth seeing.
