The best part of this movie was seeing everyone so young! They've been playing "Cruel Intentions" on TV and I wanted to compare the two interpretations of the play. I soon realized where Pillippe got his inspiration.
Malkovich did an excellent job, though I think Phillippe and Witherspoon's relationship was more believable (perhaps due to their real life chemistry at the time). Close & Malkovich's relationship was far better played in this one, largely due to Close's performance; I've never seen "The Accused," but how Foster won the Oscar for Best Actress over Close, I can't fathom right now.
It was cool to see Kurtz appear in both versions.
