Review of Dangerous Beauty (1998) by Joel M — 15 Dec 2009
Eh! Despite liking historical films (or period pieces) this one bored me to tears! It was supposedly a true story but it didn't capture me one iota. Costumes are pretty, scenery is pretty too. The end is OK if you can stand the rest of the film.
The ending proves once again how people "hide" behind religion to declare themselves morally pious and more ways to continue to make women subservient. Males tried to justify their infidelities by claiming they were "victims" to the women who had bewitched them.
(movie takes place during the Inquisition, in Venice).
