Review of Dangal (2016) by Erica B — 31 Dec 2016
Let me start by saying, I am not Indian, but I do enjoy a lot of Indian movies. If you go to this movie in the theater, you will most likely see that the audience is about 98% Indian. That in itself makes the movie more fun.
The Indian audience brings a level of excitement similar to going to a new Star Trek movie with a theater full of Trekkies. They will laugh and cheer at things that may not make sense to you... aka insider jokes.
Still, the story line was fantastic; the actors portrayed their emotions beautifully; the music has you bobbing around in your seat. The fact that this is based on a true story gives it a whole extra depth to the plot.
If you don't like Indian movies because of the random dancing that bursts out during the storyline, don't worry... all the dancing in this movie actually belongs in the story. I highly recommend this movie even if you aren't a wrestling fan or an Indian movie fan because it's just so much fun to watch.
