Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Hnis N — 10 Apr 2010
This is an emotional drama mixed with elements of action, adventure, romance, and some comedy with great cinematography, direction, music and cast. True, it is quite long but it is a grand and touching story of a wounded soldier in the American civil war, who chooses to take service in a small fort but when he arrives, he finds the fort to be empty and abandoned and his only contact with other beings is a wolf and the local Sioux Indians.
Kevin Costner's performance was outstanding as was Mary McDonnell's. Her ability to act as a Sioux Indian down to her broken English is excellent. In conclusion Dances with wolves is an interesting movie with an important message.
