Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Abel D — 30 Mar 2013
Costner's sweeping historical manages to justify its lengthy runtime thanks to its vast narrative that allows for some considerable character development & moments, an exploration of the lost Sioux lifestyle that feels real, believable and non-glossed, and a sense of cinematic scale that harkens back to the glory days of Hollywood epics, complete with sweeping vistas of mountains & plains, and large scale battles.
