Dances with Wolves is a wonderful film that explores and demyth the native americans by showing their heartache and sense of community. John Dunbar is a great example of character development. Obviously Avatar was inspired by Dances with Wolves.
The only negative Dances with Wolves has compared to Avator, is that the film felt a bit long.
