Dances With Wolves is a beautiful film. Kevin Costner's choice of locations, and the shots he made in those locations, as well as the detailed wardrobe and settings- leave us with a picture that is truly stunning to look at.

And while some people find this story to be predictable, or cheesy, or just don't think Kevin Costner is a very good actor... I find this story to be incredibly sincere in all of it's intentions.

Kevin Costner took the time to portray the Natives in a few different lights, instead of having the Natives portrayed in a black or white manner as they often are.

What he also did was give the Native's some depth for once! You don't see that in earlier films, especially in the Hollywood era of old. These people in this film have personalities and humour and relationships and a wider range of emotions. Finally!

And one of the most commendable things about this film is that we actually have Native actors and actresses playing these roles! This was a huge step in film towards getting the Natives out there into film, and has helped to give the opportunity and ambition for Natives to make their own movies now- with their own writers, directors, actors, etc... which I hope to see more and more of as time goes on! To see all of the wonderful and talented Native talent in this movie is truly a treat!

So I give this a thumbs up.
