Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Jared C — 29 Mar 2011
Kevin Costner has starred in some very shoddy films like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Postman and Waterworld. For all those failures Dances with Wolves remains one of his only best. His direction is brilliant, his way to communicate with the actors is unique.
The film is astounding its location shoots, production, cinematogrpahy, music, sound editing and the rest is all great. Its a one of a kind film with fantastic chemistry from all the actors including Costner and Graham Greene who plays the Indian medicine man and Mary McDonnell with Kevin Costner.
The Native American are a real spotlight in this film and are the support for this film in its message. Quite honestly this would probably be one of the best western films i've seen alongside True Grit and a few recent and old western films.
