Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Nick L — 10 Aug 2012

Dances With Wolves is about civil war Sgt. John Dunbar who is deployed in an abandoned base in South Dakota. After a run in with the local Indian tribe, Sgt Dunbar starts to see life totally differently and the movie takes a turn for the better.

Kevin Costner gives a terrific performance in his prime and the supporting cast does a well job of carrying this movie. But what does it for me is the absolutely brilliant cinematography. The frontier has never been portrayed more beautiful in any other movie than this and I don't think we'll ever see topped.

This movie deserved every Oscar it got and it is the highlight of Kevin Costner's career. Now if only he would've done the same in The Postman!
