Overall this is not the classic that history would have you believe, nor is it a terrible, revisionist piece of garbage that others claim. It is somewhere in-between, being a patient epic that is worthy while also being too native and sentimental to really convince and have lasting value.

Worth seeing then for what it essentially does but be prepared to buy into its approach and its simplification of the issues.
