Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Allison K — 09 Feb 2015

It's got exquisite cinematography, wonderful direction, and a stand-out story. There's not much wrong with this film. It's clocks in at a long 3 hours, however, and for some movies that's fine.

I kind of got the feeling that Costner didn't exactly know where, when, or how to wrap up his movie. And the fact that this beat out Goodfellas for Best Picture still rattles me a little bit. Either way, it's a culturally important and aesthetically pleasing film that may have been a wee bit overhyped.
