Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Keith F — 29 Mar 2015
Over twenty years later, Dances With Wolves seems remarkably simplistic. While it was a great achievement in portraying Native Americans and white people in both a positive and negative light, as one of the first, it lacks in showing more than surface observations.
But that isn't really my beef with it. My beef is that Kevin Costner is just awful as the main protagonist. His acting doesn't draw me in at all, doesn't provide me with a reason to care, and ruins every key moment when you're supposed to be feeling sad or happy.
