Review of Dances with Wolves (1990) by Vin A — 06 Jul 2010
I had to watch this in my US History Class one week in school. This was by far the best thing I've watched in school and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kevin Costner really shines in his directing and starring role.
Cinema has always showed us bits and pieces of our relationship with the Native Americans. But Hollywood never came as close to Dances with the Wolves in terms of accuracy and enjoyment. It was a deep movie about crossing boundaries and accepting lifestlyes. It made you think about how we treat others, and about the sadness in violent conflict and hopes for peaceful coexistence seen in this movie. I very much liked the wolf's symbolism and portrayal in the film. There was a good narrative, with amazing settings and acting. The action was entertaining and the plot was accurately detailed. A classic.
