Thought "Dancer in the Dark" was made before ?Dogville? because the latter criticized the behavior/mentality/arrogance of certain people (such as Selma). But found out that "dancer in the dark" was released in 2000 and "dogville" in 2003. Dogville went further in terms of exposing some dark side of humanity but with a twist in the end.
The story line of ?dancer in the dark? was very simple. ?Dogville? is much more complicated. Watching ?dancer in the dark? after ?dogville? was a disappointment. If anything, Selma?s daydreaming was very touching.
Loved the singing, though.
