Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Cassie R — 03 Apr 2011
At first I thought that Bjork's acting was a bit wooden but once I realised that this is just the way she speaks, then I watched in awe as she put in a performance any actor or actress would be proud of after a lifetime in the job.
I never thought I'd give a musical five stars but this is an excellent film. The directing was splendid too, as always. I was waiting for the typical Lars Von Trier shocks to come but I think he got his kicks from making a musical out of such a sad story.
Not that the way it ended wasn't shocking enough mind.
