Review of Dancer in the Dark (2000) by Sydney L — 09 Feb 2010
Anybody who says this is a bad film are just too mentally insufficient to understand it. It's not overly depressing but leaves you mesmerised and emotional and encourages you to think (shock horror: I know most people don't like the idea of thinking) and its a real shame how people confuse their own stupidity with poor film-making.
It's one of the best films I have ever seen. The songs are brilliant and Bjork's talent as a performer shines through radiantly. The directing and script is wonderful and it is such a true and realistic representation and commentary of the world we live in. And for many, the truth hurts too much - which is one of many reasons why this film has been rated so unfairly.
If you're one of the few people who actually have a brain I definitely suggest this film. You will not be disappointed.
