Review of Dan in Real Life (2007) by Suzy M — 02 Jun 2010
Dan In Real Life is just the kind of film I enjoy: a film that is simply about life. It isn't jam packed with action or raunch, it just highlights (very well) the relationships and interactions between people.
The acting was good all round and it was nice to see Steve Carell showing a softer and more vulnerable side. As the acting was so well executed the characters were extremely believable meaning that a simple story-line was complex enough to be interesting.
It was really heartwarming in parts and there were some amusing moments too. The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it wasn't funny enough. But this could just be because I thought it was a full-on comedy but it didn't end up being that so I might have felt let down in that sense.
Overall a really good film, enjoyable, believable and feel-good too. Definitely worth watching if you're the type of person who doesn't mind a film with no action in!
