Review of Dan in Real Life (2007) by Raquel A — 06 Nov 2010

This film made me really mad--not at how bad it was, but at how good it wasn't. Given the terrific performance by Steve Carell, and the potential of plot, this film could have been excellent. Unfortunately, the final product gave me the impression that the script-writers were really, really lazy and bored.

While the film has its moments (especially in the first half), the number of incomplete developments, underdeveloped moments, and dangling plot-threads is disturbingly high (also, the ending is annoyingly rushed).

Essentially, this movie is a collage of wasted ideas.
