Review of Dan in Real Life (2007) by Alex W — 29 May 2012
At first, I wasn't sure where the movie was going in the beginning, but only a tad slowly but surely it brought itself to the table. Steve Carell did a great job! So did Dane Cook I think, he was actually a pretty serious actor in this film, it was a great change of pace.
For some reason I didn't really like Marie at the beginning of the movie, but she slowly grew on me as the movie played on. As a whole, the movie was great because it persuaded you to feel a variety of different emotions that connected to the characters, especially Dan! It was both sad and funny, I couldn't help laughing at times while feeling so sorry for Dan at certain moments.
His dilemmas killed me in that way. I have to admit, I almost teared up certain times. In relation to reality, it was a spectacular experience.
