Dan in Real life makes a mistake that a lot of family comedies make, and that's push too hard for sentimentality. However, it does something very few comedies have ever done and that is present you with a scarily real family that is awkwardly stuck between a rock and a hard place in the midst of a peculiar love triangle.
It's sweet, charming, smartly scripted and expertly acted and you'll laugh out loud because most of all, it's funny.
