Review of Damien - Omen II (1978) by Tabitha M — 02 Oct 2008
I love horror from the 70s - but I can't honestly say that I warmed to the Omen quickly. Very understated and events all seem very coicindental (which the director says was the effect he was hoping to acheive).
The Omen 2 (while having a change of director) is made the same way, although this time Damien is older and has a voice (you will recall he didn't speak much - if at all - in the original). I think this makes it a little more interesting - and brings to light the inner turmoil of the child discovering his destiny.
It's a strange thing for a sequel to make one look more fondly upon the original and I feel that this is what this film has achieved.
