Review of Damage (2012) by Alyssa N — 11 Mar 2008
It's a shame that such superb performances, including Miranda Richardson's which earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination, could only serve to make a bad movie more bearable to watch. If you take it scene by scene, there's a lot of passion and emotion here, but as a whole this movie is unforgivably cliched and over-the-top.
The plot seems ridiculous, probably because the characters are not developed enough for us to understand their actions, let alone their thought processes. I think this is supposed to be an exploration of infidelity, but it only shows us what we've seen before with no attempt to dig deeper.
