Review of Dallas Buyers Club (2013) by Sujit O — 17 May 2014

Where does one start with this movie. The filmmaking part itself is incredible with shooting being completely handheld. The production phase lasted just over a month.However as great as this sounds, it only get multiplied 10 fold with this years best actor and best supporting actor who both won for this movie.

Matthew McConaughey has developed as an actor so so much in these past years and this is the zenith of his presence in movies(True Detective is something else). But then comes Jared Leto who's always been an insane actor but just goes to another freaking level with Dallas Buyers club. Its like both of them had ticked every pinpoint what the Oscars always demands, starting from the major loss of weight! Jennifer Garner gives a rather decent performance but it finally comes to nothing in comparison to the aforementioned. Altogether this could very well be considered the best movie of the year.
