I don't get the hype. All the characters are archetypes. McConaughey is just a skinnier "Alright, alright!" The one female character is one-dimensional and only serves the purposes of interested observer and then validator of the male character.

All the medical science is severely muddled--not in the let-the-characters-take-center-stage kind of way, but in the total-misrepresentation-of-facts kind of way.
