Review of Dagon (2001) by Jack D — 30 Mar 2008
Captures the atmosphere of Lovecraft's original perfectly, but ultimately, the film shows too much. There's one scene, which while supremely disturbing, and very much in the spirit of the kind of thing Lovecraft hinted at (but never described), is almost too gruesome for words.
A little restraint might have been more appropriate, given the source material. But, overall, this is a fairly commendable effort.
