Review of Dagon (2001) by Robbie M — 15 Mar 2009
This is a surprising charmer. A young couple end up on a spanish island inhabited by fish-people who have various motives for destroying or inseminating them. The movie follows routine horror conventions, but the nice things here are a guy (as opposed to the usual busty female--though there are boobs!) as the primary target and protagonist, and a sense of humor.
I don't know where the actor Ezra Godden came from or went to, but he played the uber-nerd lead wittily and sexily. I've found another Lovecraft adaptation that he's in, and I really look forward to watching it.
Clearly I have a crush, but back to the point. This is totally endearing horror: silliness, foreign accents, a major facial, and fish-people. How can you go wrong?
