Clips looked great but in general this was only just about ok at best. As many other reviews have suggested the script simply isn't funny enough. A few very good turns here though - Gambon is spot on with Godfrey, Jones does well as Mainwaring and Zeta Jones puts in a very good comic turn which again is spot on for what this film needed.
The story line is not really original but its well suited to the Dads Army backdrop but it's just that script that stops this all being what should and could have been a whole lot better. What a shame.
