Review of Dad's Army (2016) by Terry D — 09 Feb 2016
Dad's Army without a doubt one of the best situation comedies to be created.I enjoyed the 90 minutes however the film presumes the audiences have seen the original series before and is return as so.
Toby Jones gives a Terrific performance as Captain Manwaring.Michael Gambon as Pvt Godfrey captures the character very well as for the rest of the cast they don't have enough to time walk in the shadows of the shows predecessors.
I felt that the film wasn't written very well but is salvaged with some really good laughs that will keep fans happy.Perhaps a 30 minute sitcom isn't done justice in 2016 by a 90 minute remake of a long running series.
Dad's Army fans will enjoy this none fans will have a harder time. The film was exactly what I expected. The film was a decent watch and could of been a lot worse.I felt that this doesn't diminish the original in anyway that it has been made out to have done.
Its not the worst film of a British sitcom and it isn't the best. 3/5.
