Review of Daddy's Little Girls (2007) by Lisa R — 26 Jan 2009
Maybe it was just me, but I thought the characters lacked true depth and passion. While of course Elba is HOT and Union was Beautiful that was about it. I kept thinking the entire movie, "why don't you call the police"; how unrealistic is this? Someone puts marks on your child and the best you can do is run into them with a car??? And as far as the children, they were old enough to have a voice in family court.
..but they were never given any. While Union's character tried so desperately to emphasize the characteristics of a good black man, her character was stereotypical in itself and generally annoying.
And enough of the poor man who was slighted wrongly because he couldn't keep his thingy in his pants. I get sick of this tag line from all races. Didn't we learn anything from To Kill A Mockingbird and Fatal Attraction?!? All in all, I still salute Tyler Perry for trying to portray a black man with a positive image who cared about his kids and kept his eyes toward Jesus.
