Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, its a bunch of re-done cliches. Cool guy v. nerdy, family guy. I can do vs. you can't. The only difference is the circumstances these roles fit into. And, obviously makes/breaks the movie.
Neither Ferrell or Wahlberg can really act- so in that regard its too over the top sarcastic. Maybe as a parent I could "get" this more, but I'm not....
