Review of Daddy's Home (2015) by Sadiep — 17 Nov 2017
Movie we wanted to see was sold out so this was a last minute choice - had no idea what it was about other than a comedy w/Will Ferrell. Surprise, surprise it was pretty funny, a little slap stick, a few groans, but we smiled/laughed a lot, it held our interest & we enjoyed it.
Yes, it was very silly & fairly predictable, but nonetheless heartwarming in a cliche kind of way. Essentially about a dad & step-dad working to maintain a cohesive buddy relationship for the benefit of the kids.
They deal with conflicts around the multi-family relationships ... both old & new. Good chemistry between Ferrell & Wahlberg, especially liked one daughter she was a hoot, and you knew there was much love between them all.
John Lithgow is great but Gibson was just kind of creepy. A funny Christmas movie, though I wouldn't say it is for kids.
