This was a refreshing comedy. There was superb actor chemistry with fresh and funny jokes. The casting was superb. Lithgow was the perfect match for Ferrell and Gibson was perfect for Wahlberg. I see these reviews that say it was nasty and cynical, but they have a very narrow view.
This was clearly a plot device to setup the unity at the end.
