Review of Daddy's Home 2 (2017) by Dave R — 20 Nov 2017
So 2017 has been a down year for comedies, and that trend continues with Daddy's Home 2. I'm not saying the movie is totally free from laughs, as I actually laughed more then I thought I would.
However, this movie really does show what is wrong with our children in America today. Now I don't have step children and do not have experience in this realm, and I'm sure it is extremely hard raising someone else's kids.
However, while the actions of these kids written into the movie are supposed to be funny, I just found them somewhat disturbing as a snap shot of life in America today. That being said there are some good things with this film.
Will Ferrell and John Lithgow are pretty dang funny with their on screen relationship here. Also, there's a bit about touching the thermostat that is classic. Mel Gibson did nothing to help his self image in this thing, and Mark Wahlberg isn't as good as he was in the first one.
The wives in this thing are not good at all, and John Cena has zero funny lines. I did laugh so this is a bargain matinee at best.
