Review of Daddy's Home 2 (2017) by Matthew T — 23 Feb 2018
The 21st century Christmas film for the 21st-century family (or what Hollywood thinks it should be) and it is a train wreck...which is both good and bad in terms of comedy. Lots of physical humor, awkward situations and superficial moments of bromance and family.
Much of the film is fun to watch and the idea for the story is good but the comedy goes off the track and leads to a cheeseball Christmas ending with some sad implications about the secularization of the holiday.
In the end, the characters are the same as they were in the beginning of the film. Weirdos with mixed up families...It just gets bigger...and all you can do is laugh at the insanity and hope families haven't strayed so far that what is on screen has become the norm.
