Review of Daddy Day Camp (2007) by Johnny T — 09 Mar 2011
Daddy Day Camp relies too heavily on bodily functions for comedic effect, resulting in plenty of gags but no laughs. This belabored summertime sequel is moderately less vulgar, certainly less expensive. It would appear that Eddie Murphy couldn't stomach a return to the franchise, leaving Cuba Gooding Jr. to fill the role of hapless father Charlie Hinton. Paul Rae also substitutes for the role of his partner, Phil. So this is essentially a sequel with stand-ins playing the leading roles. The acting is atrocious and more obvious than you see in many high school or college productions. The jokes are stale. The storyline is so predictable. A tired and unnecessary sequel.
VERDICT: "Some Ole' Bulls**t" - Second lowest rating (Negative reaction). These films are truly terrible films. They are not the worst things ever made, but they are definitely awful and should not be seen by anyone.
