Review of D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996) by Phil F — 11 Sep 2011
Thank God they stopped after making this one. The most wretched installment in a trilogy about a youth hockey team, The Mighty Ducks. This putrid sequel finds the Ducks on the JV team at a private school, Eden Hall Academy, where their main adversary becomes the Varsity squad.
What an absurd concept. Soulless formulaic comedy with the same group of characters from the preceding Ducks' films. Could this collection of actors possibly be more un-athletic looking? Joshua Jackson is as believable as a hockey star as Verne Troyer.
The kid that plays Averman reminds me of Oglivie from the Bad News Bears, he's just not nearly as cool. The portly kid that plays Goldberg? He would need an oxygen mask after being on the ice for a mere two minutes.
Unbelievably farcical nonsense. Two stars.
