Cyrus, at first glance, feels a lot like a parallel plot to Step-Brothers. A man falls for a woman, but has to contend with her over-dependent son. With John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill in the lead roles, sounds like another recipe for comedy.

While Step-Brothers took the ridiculous Adam McKay route, Cyrus plays things a little bit more quirky. For the most part, it works. Shot on a digital medium, the whole affair is given that ârealistic sheenâ? thatâ(TM)s become so popular these days.

Thereâ(TM)s no music cues or winks at the camera to let the audience know, âHey! This is funny!â? I appreciated that aspect and I think the humor worked well with it. However, the script keeps things at a very predictable level.

I didnâ(TM)t feel that having the lead man also essentially a âman babyâ? really helped separate this movie apart from Step-Brothers either. Still, the actors totally make it work and itâ(TM)s very entertaining if you like that so-uncomfortable-itâ(TM)s-funny humor.
