Review of Cyrus (2010) by Marc G — 27 Jan 2011
Seeing all the praise this movie got I figured it would be worth a watch. I am a fan of John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill and will usually enjoy anything they are both in. This however was not what I was expecting.
It is supposedly a comedy but there isn't any humor in it. Jonah Hill is a grown kid who lives with his mother and they honestly have a weird relationship together. She showers and he still goes into the bathroom and calls her by her first name.
John C. Reilly's character is still best friends with his Ex and ends up striking out constantly at her engagement party until he meets Tomei's character who sneaks out every night after lovin to get home to her man child.
This kind of goes into the category with "Little Miss Sunshine" where everyone thought it was hilarious while I sat there and just didn't get the humor in it. If you liked Little Miss Sunshine than you will probably enjoy this.
I didn't even though the acting was great, the storyline just wasn't interesting to me.
