Review of Cyrus (2010) by Thiago R — 09 Jul 2011
Here is perfect proof of how good actors can make or break a movie. There's nothing particularly flashy about the cinematography, directing or even the story. But this small troupe of dedicated and extremely talented actors take this material and really run with it, breathe life into it, and make it feel lived-in, believable, and honest.
We see a lot of improvised comedy these days but not a lot of improvised drama, which is why this film is so interesting. The result isn't a laugh-out-loud comedy as one would expect, but a rather somber, quirky little dramedy that is just a joy to watch.
