Review of Cyrus (2010) by Walter W — 05 Sep 2012
Cyrus a comedy-drama film written and directed by Jay and Mark Duplass(brothers). John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei are in the lead roles.
John Kilpatrick (John C. Reilly) is divorced for 7-years, he is bombarded with the news of his ex-wife Jamie (Catherine Keener) getting re-married. John meets Molly (Marisa Tomei) at the party. John and Molly make love but all of sudden Molly has to leave in the mid of night. The next day she repeats same routine, until John follows her, and is surprised to meet Molly's 21-year old son Cyrus (Jonah Hill).
This movie starts robustly. The directors struggle victoriously to make audience love John's character, when he dances to tune 'Don't You Want Me Baby'. Marisa Tomei looks beautiful and fresh, and we can actually believe, why John does fall in love with her free spirit. But hey, Jonah Hill could be this bad*** I really never knew that! A pure entertainment!
