I did my thesis on this play and film versions of it. If I can still like it after all that I think anyone should be able to appreciate it. In this version Jean-Paul Rappeneau even wrote some lines in verse to make his scenes flow better.
I also like that the subtitles are in verse so non-francophones can get a better feel for the film.
