Review of Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) by Clayton W — 13 Jun 2009
Cyrano De Bergerace is a great movie fueled by a funny, sincere, multifaceted performance by Gerard Depardieu in the title role. It's filled with humor, action, and romance, and the film's poetic nature is wonderfully conserved in the subtitles which, while surely not a literal translation, are true to the spirit of the story (and, obviously, what's being said).
My main qualm with the film is the overlong final scene, but it's a small gripe against a beautiful and exciting film. Certainly worth seeing.
