Review of Cyrano de Bergerac (1950) by Kristina W — 22 Nov 2007

This was a good movie and Jose Ferrer gave a commanding performance, but I felt the rest of it could have been better. I realize it's based on a play, but the look of the film was too much like a stage, the sets were pretty bland and it just sort of played out like a play.

Regardless, it was an good movie and I loved the opening scenes with Cyrano and his moments with Roxanne. I prefer the 1990 version.
