"Down the throat to the belly of gold, guarded by those who never grow old.".

Before there was The Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, there was a tragically underrated film that had everything that made the Pirates Of The Caribbean films great, that film is Cutthroat Island. A box office flop in the mid 90's, Cutthroat Island missed the masses which is a shame. It's on hell of an excellent and swashbuckling good time on the high seas. Packed with nonstop pirate action, explosions, bullets, sword duels, and hidden treasure that any fan of the genre could ask for. Director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, The Last Kiss Goodnight) is back with this all out action assault that's just as good, if not better than The Pirates Of The Carribbean films. Harlin is capable of crafting some brilliant action sequences, and his talent shows in this head bashing action packed epic. Well worth multiple viewings, Cutthroat Island is one the entire family can enjoy. An underrated gem of a film that deserves to be recognized as one of the best pirate films that's out there.

Geena Davis collaborated with Renny Harlin once again just as they did in the Long Kiss Goodnight, and as usual she does a great job in this film. She's beautiful, sexy, and she's very well capable of unleashing her inner bad ass at any one moment. Matthew Modine whom I'm not very familiar with seemed to do a good job as the co-star. Frank Langella could be a real life pirate, and he might be. Patrick Malahide is great, as well as the monkey that appears in sonebof the scenes.
