Review of Cutter's Way (1981) by David S — 04 Oct 2009
Slow crime film that isn't very exciting yet it's more of a character study than a mystery-thriller (as it is often promoted as being). The characters are very well developed and the performances are all great, especially from Bridges and Heard.
This is a very intelligent and down-beat drama that provides commentary on the impact of the Vietnam war on its soldiers and how its impossible to reintegrate themselves back into "normal" life.
.. the mystery about the death of a woman is only a "McGuffin" in that it is present to only initiate the analysis of the characters.
