Review of Cut Bank (2014) by Dustin M — 07 Mar 2015
There are hints of "Fargo" and even "True Detective", but the film's pace is too slow, the story is a little too ridiculous at times and Liam Hemsworth makes for a boring lead. Even John Malkovich feels miscast as the violence-phobic detective.
The 2 standouts for me were Bruce Dern giving an enthusiastic performance that has hints of brilliance, and Michael Stuhlbarg is creepy as hell and gives a unique performance that this film needed. A24 could do better, but still solid.
